Technology
iGROK IGRT tools are designed to save time and improve access to clinical data. However, convenient access to existing data is just the beginning. There’s a wealth of potentially significant clinical information going unused in most treatment centers, hidden in the treatment imaging. This information is “hidden” primarily becuase it would take an expert clinician untold hours of painstaking measurements to quantify it and sort through it. Without a means to automate this analysis, and to highlight the important results among the tens of thousands of details, we miss an opportunity for improved treatment surveillance, and better treatments.
iGROK Automated Treatment Monitoring seizes that opportunity by automatically tracking millions of locations within a patient’s anatomy as they move and evolve from where they were imaged before treatment, through their daily positions relative to the radiation beams, throughout a course of therapy. This process includes technology known as “deformable registration,” which has long been a goal for medical imaging analysis. Using this information, key clinical facts, central to radiation therapy, can be assessed with much greater accuracy, such as:
- How much radiation dose has the tumor received so far?
- How much dose has each healthy organ been subjected to?
Accurate deformable registration promises to answer these questions more completely than ever before, and provide the tools to make mid-course adjustments in treatments, avoiding problems and seizing opportunities that previously went unnoticed.
iGROK’s approach, informed on a structure by structure basis by the properties of individual anatomic organs, provides a uniquely powerful way to address these questions. The result is more quantitative insights into patient treatments and an automatic triage and validation framework that gives physicians more confidence in less time.
